Tour Description:
An excellent combination of and archaeological, cultural and rural tourism in Peru, in which you will be able to visit destinations such as Lima, Peru's capital and its colonial architecture, Cajamarca where you will be able to interact with the community and be part of their everyday activities, the city of Cuzco and its numerous vestiges, visit the Inca's Sacred Valley and its archaeological monuments, the majestic Machu Picchu citadel, Puno and Titicaca Lake where you will enjoy their archaeological sites and ancestral costumes and traditions.

Itinerary

Day 1: ... / Lima


Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Lima

 

Day 2: Lima / Cajamarca


Transfer to the airport
Flight to Cajamarca
Reception and transfer to the Inca Baths complex for a reconforting and medicinal bath in the hot springs. Then transfer to the La Encañada community where the experience will start.
Overnight in a community house

 

Day 3: Cajamarca


We will rise earlt in the morning and enjoy a typical highlands breakfast, then you will participate on the harvest and sow of different products. Then you will take a walk to the Las Torres Mirador and visit the local school. Lunch and then in the afternoon you will be part of artisan and textile labors of the "encañadinos". At dinner you will hear local tales, myths and legends of the community. Then you will be part of a gratitude ritual to the Apus and the Pacha Mama. Aftwerwards you will take a walk towards a nearby Brooke where a fire will be lit and you will chew coca leaves, drink cañazo and pray and sing in order to feel the surrounding nature and have a better understanding of the Andean cosmovision.

Day 4: Cajamarca / Lima / Cusco


After breakfast you will take a walk around the chacra while helping out on the morning farming labors. Then you will go to the La Encañada town, and if it's Sunday you'll be lucky to be part of the local fairs. Return to Cajamarca.
Transfer to the airport.
Flight to Lima.
Flight to Cusco.
Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Cusco.

 

Day 5: Cusco


Tour around the magical city of Cuzco, visiting the historic Main Square and the Cathedral, both of colonial style, as well as the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, ancient adoration Inca centre for the Sun God. The tour will continue with a visit to the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built entirely of perfectly fitted carved stones and where the Inti Raymi celebration takes place every year. You will also visit ancient Inca centers such as Kenko, labyrinth in Quechua, where several ceremonies and rituals took place; Puca Pucara, with vigilance spots or "tambos" along the Inca Trail; and Tambomachay, also know as the Inca Baths, the Inca tribute to the liquid element or Unu.

Day 6: Cusco / Sacred Valley


After breakfast you will take a bus towards Misminay, On the way you will go through green painted field and a beautiful site of the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival you will be received by the locals. You will share with the community as they show you their everyday activities, specially their weaving techniques. Lunch at the community.

Day 7: Sacred Valley


You will be taken to ceramics Workshops to take a class and prepare your own pottery. As the burn process finishes you will be able to visit Moray archaeological site and the Maras Salt Mines, then return to the workshop to pick up your finished pieces and enjoy lunch.

Day 8: Sacred Valley


Tour to the Sacred Valley Visit the colorful handicraft market of Pisaq. Lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, visit Ollantaytambo, Inca fortress built to watch the entrance to the valley.

Day 9: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu / Cusco


Transfer to the train station.
Train ride to the Machu Picchu ruins. You'll be taken by bus from the Aguas Calientes train station to the top of the mountain where you can find the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. After the two hour guided tour, lunch at a local restaurant.
Back to the Aguas Calientes train station at the appropriate time to take the train back to Cusco.

Day 10: Cusco / Puno


Transfer to the bus station
Travel by bus for eight hours on board of the Inka Express from Cusco. You will make some stops along the way on places such as the Andahuaylillas town and its church, known as the America's Sistine Chapel, the Raqchi complex where the Wiracocha temple is located; La Raya, the highest point of this journey; and finally, the Pucara town before arriving to the city of Puno.

Day 11: Puno


Transfer to the Uros Islands, ancient inhabitants of the lake, known for the way they have built this islands weaving layers of "totora", a local type of reed. Then transfer to Amantani Island where you will enjoy a typical lunch offered by the villagers. At apponted time you will take a walk Howard the ceremonial centres: Pachatata y Pachamama. Dinner and lodgind offer by the local families.

Day 12: Puno


Transfer to Taquile Islands. You will take a walk to the town and visit the artisan centre where you will find a variety of textiles and hand made weavings very fine and multicolored.
Then you will take the boat back to Puno

Day 13: Puno / Lima


Transfer to the airport, on route visit to Sillustani, pre inca tombs used to bury the aymara leaders.
