According the time of your arrival the day is yours! There are many options to visit around the capital of Peru like the Main Square with its main attractions: the Cathedral, Archbishop of Lima and Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace). If you have a free evening it would be a great opportunity to go to the Magic Water Circuit with different types of fountains and a main colorful show. It is also a very good time to start tasting a little bit of our famous cuisine in one of the delicious restaurants around the city. Remember that Peru is considered one of the best gastronomic destinations.
  • Overnight in Lima.
  • After breakfast, you will have a scheduled private transfer to take you from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
  • At your arrival to Velasco Astete Cusco airport, our TRIP PERU representative will meet you and take you to your hotel passing through the historic center. The adventure begins!
  • According the time of your arrival, you now have the rest of the day to make some exploring around the city. It is important for you to know that Cusco is located at 11,300 feet in elevation, we recommend during this first afternoon to take it easy so you can begin acclimatizing to the altitude. Nevertheless, this is a good chance to walk around the Main Square, with its many cafes and stores. There are also many options for casual and/or fine dining.
  • Overnight in Cusco.
  • Morning at leisure. This would be a very good time to explore a little bit more of Cusco’s less-visited attractions, you have for example: San Pedro Market, the beautiful neighborhood of San Blas, or one of Cusco’s fine museums, such as the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, the Casa Concha (“Machu-Picchu Museum”), or the Choco Museum, where you can make your own chocolate from scratch.
  • In the afternoon, you will have the chance to visit the historical city of Cuzco. Your visit will begin with the center of the city, touring around two beautiful colonial landmarks: The Main Square and The Cathedral to see its fabulous wood carvings and impressive altars and the lovely Church of La Compañia de Jesus (Society of Christ). Then you will visit the ancient Koricancha (Temple of the Sun in Quechua), an ancient Inca worship center to the Sun God and a marvelous mixture of Inca and colonial architecture. Later on you will leave the city and head towards the outskirts where several archaeological sites from Inca times can be found, and what better example of this that the Sacsayhuaman Inca Fortress, entirely built in stone, each piece carefully carved to fit perfectly to the other. This Inca fortress is also the chosen site for the Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) that is celebrated every year on June 24th. Even more archaeological marvels are ahead: Kenko (labyrinth or maze in Quechua), a ceremonial site; Tambomachay, where a never-ending spring can be found, this place is locally known as the Inca Baths, a site that it is believed to be an Inca tribute to Unu (water in Quechua) and you will have a panoramic view of Puca Pucara.
  • In the late afternoon, you will return to your Cusco hotel. Evening at leisure where you can enjoy local cuisine, music, and the splendor of Cusco at night.
  • Overnight in Cusco.
  • Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca`s Balcony, in Chinchero, a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelves families still preserve their traditional costums, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Afterwards, we will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire. Very well known for its “andenes” (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress, also served as a temple. Then, we will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, “the unique living Inca town”: the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.
  • In the late afternoon, you will be taken to your beautiful hotel in the Sacred Valley where you can relax and be ready for your exciting next destination.
  • Overnight at the Sacred Valley.
  • After breakfast, you will be ready to visit one of the most important energy centers of the world and the highpoint of your Peruvian vacation: Machu Picchu. You will board a beautiful train to the town of Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, this hour-and-a-half to two-hour train journey is considered one of the most impressive routes in the world, watching the magnificent scenery of the Sacred Valley offering passengers dramatic views of the Andean landscape as the train descends from high altitude plains down through the cloud forest. Upon arrival, our tour representative will meet you at the train station and take you to the bus station for a 20-minute ride up to the citadel. A professional English-speaking guide will take you for a 2-hour tour to the most important sites in Machu Picchu, including the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), the Sun Temple, and the Room of 3 Windows. You'll have some time left over to go for lunch at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge and scout around the ancient city on your own, then return to Aguas Calientes for your train back to Cusco.
  • In the late afternoon, you will board your train back to Cusco. Reception at the train station and transfer to your hotel in the evening.
  • If you want to spend more time at Machu Picchu, this package can be adapted according your preferences, you have the option to stay one more night in Aguas Calientes. This will allow you to make a second visit to the enigmatic citadel on the following day or hike the Huayna Picchu Mountain, this hike offers spectacular views of the surrounding Andes and over the Machu Picchu citadel from above.
  • Overnight in Cusco.
  • After breakfast at your hotel, one of our representatives will meet you at your hotel and take you to the airport for your flight to Iquitos. As there are no direct flights, you will have to take 2 flights connecting in Lima.
  • Upon arrival, a lodge representative will meet you at the airport and take you to the port for your transfer by speedboat to your Amazon lodge. The distances may vary according each lodge; however, most of them are located around 1 hour and 1-hour and half by boat from the city port. On the way you will have the chance to be marveled by the magnificence of the Amazon river, the exuberance of the jungle and the picturesque villages that abound in the river shores. Once you reach the lodge you will be welcomed with a tropical fruit drink and have some time to settle before starting with the adventure of the day.
After lunch, begin your first excursion: a guided ethno botanic walk, where you will find plants such as cat claw, sour cane, copaiba, aguaje and even the hallucinogen vine, Ayahuasca. Then you will be able to visit the local shaman that will teach you more about the healing properties and use of these plants and roots.
Return to the lodge for rest and relaxation and be enthralled by your first, must-not-miss Amazon Sunset. As the evening comes around, during high tide, take a boat ride along one of the Amazon River’s tributaries for an exciting evening in the jungle, with no lights, perhaps just some jungle flora and fauna sparkling in the dark. You will have to trust your expert boat guide to take you where you can appreciate and listen to the magical sounds of the jungle. If it is a clear night, you will see the bright magnificent moonlight, as well as observe the stars and constellations. With some luck you can also see some falling stars which are quite common in the area. Shortly, go back to the Lodge to rest and relax for an early wake up the next day.

Learn the local techniques of fishing and for the most daring you can try to fish for Piranhas. During this excursion you can also have the opportunity to look out for the Pink River Dolphin. If you are lucky you have your catch cooked for lunch, when you return to the Lodge.
After lunch, you will board a boat looking for the Giant Water Lily, the Victoria Regia, the “Queen of water lilies”. Now renamed Victoria Amazonica, these native flora in the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin are mostly found in oxbow lakes and bayous. You may see some flowers that are white as they bloom on the first night some that have turned pink on the second night after blooming. They can grow to 40 cm in diameter, and are pollinated by scarab beetles.
Then consider the Nature Night Hike. Go on an enchanting evening trek within the secure periphery of the Lodge and you will witness the entrancing transformation from daytime to a night atmosphere. As you adjust to the dark environment you will appreciate the rainforest takes on a very different character and be aware of the existence and habits of nocturnal jungle animals. It’s the best time to see stunning tree frogs, shy snakes, and other rainforest creatures that only come out at night. Discern a range of completely distinctive fauna from the day as you listen to magical sounds of insects, birds, jungle cats and night owls. Back to the Lodge for Dinner and much needed rest, but before feel free to enjoy tales and legends of the Amazon told by the guides or musical performances by the lodge staff.
